BBNL is the first team to implement the next generation residential data access solution based on the new 200 Mb/s ETHERNET TO THE HOME technology (EttH). This groundbreaking technology allows cable operators/subscribers to use their existing cable connection, without the use of any active modem device in the home, to access Internet data with a symmetrical speed of 200 Mb/s. We believe we are the only team in Bangalore, that has successfully implemented this technology for the past 20 months with a SLA of sorts being met with the customers.
Ethernet to the home is a technology that uses existing coaxial cables for the provision of high speed data services. ETTH devices are high end Ethernet switches utilizing HFC networks and works in parallel with all existing services such as television or Radio.
Ethernet Over Coax cascaded(EOC-c) is an independent part of the ETTH solution. It enables symmetrical 200 mbps data connection for each end user via existing TV wall outlets. The EOC-c can be fed with any standard ethernet data source, such as a virtual fiber or with a switched Ethernet network, just to mention 2 examples. To get an idea of what the EOC-c is, a rough comparison to docsis may help. the EOC-c master modem can be compared to field hardened basic cmts and the EOC-c customer modem to a cable modem. However the EOC-c customer through of 100mbps is a higher and its robust ofdm modulation allows entering those homes which have been impossible to reach with docsis due to noisy network.
The technology works on a cascaded model concept which is very suitable in the Indian broadband industry. The communication happens between a master(EMM) and a slave modem(EOC). This is the only hardware which we have seen which is very robust in nature. The master modem which can be installed outdoor can be powered from the same location where it has been installed or through power over coax too. This is the only hardware which is currently able to provide this kind of an architecture apart from Docsis. EMM is a compact and field proven device designed to keep cost effectiveness and advanced features in balance. The solid structure and easy management are intended for operators who want straight-forward fast field installation and who intent to leave the devices running in the back ground once they have been installed. Operational easiness is far beyond what operators are used to, due to extremely robust OFDM modulation penetration via those coaxial cables that have already been deemed useless.
• ETTH is transparent layer-2
• EoC-C for cascaded installation, 100 Mbit/s shared bandwidth
• Reuses existing coax infrastructure
• Very easy and fast to deploy
